Blessed Virgin Mary
Semi-Double /
Green
Missa “Miserére mihi”
INTROIT: Psalm 85: 3, 5
Have mercy on me,
O Lord, for I have cried to Thee all the day; for Thou, O Lord, art sweet and
mild, and plenteous in mercy to all that call upon Thee.
Ps. 85: 1 Bow down Thine ear to me, O Lord, and hear me
for I am needy and poor.
Glory be to the
Father and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost, as it was in the beginning, is now
and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
Have mercy on me…
exaudi me: quoniam inops, et pauper sum ego.
Gloria Patri, et
Filio, et Spiritui Sancto. Sicut erat in principio et nunc et semper et in
saecula saeculorum. Amen.
Miserére mihi…
COLLECT
May Thy grace, we
beseech Thee, O Lord, ever go before us and follow us: and make us continually
to be intent upon good works. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, Thy Son, Who
liveth and reigneth with Thee in the unity of the Holy Ghost, God, Forever and
ever. Amen.
Commemoration of the Blessed Virgin Mary
Bestow upon Your
servants, we beseech You, O Lord, the gift of heavenly grace, that, as the
child-bearing of the Blessed Virgin stood for the beginning of our salvation,
so may the solemn feast of her Nativity bring about an increase of peace.
Third Collect for the Intercession of the
Saints
Defend us, we beseech Thee, O Lord, from all dangers of mind and body: and
through the intercession of the blessed and glorious Mary, ever Virgin, mother
of God, of St Joseph, of Thy holy apostles, Peter and Paul, and of all the
saints, in Thy loving-kindness grant us safety and peace; that, all adversities
and errors being overcome, Thy Church may serve Thee in security and freedom.
Through our Lord…

EPISTLE: Ephesians 3:13-21
Lesson from the Epistle of Blessed Paul the
Apostle to the Ephesians.
Brethren, I pray
you not to faint at my tribulations for you, which are your glory. For this cause
I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, of whom all paternity in
Heaven and earth is named, that He would grant you, according to the riches of
His glory, to be strengthened by His Spirit with which might unto the inward
man, That Christ may dwell by faith in your hearts: that being rooted and
founded in charity, you may be able to comprehend with all the saints, what is
the breadth and the length, and height, and depth. To know also the charity of
Christ, which surpasseth all knowledge that you may be filled unto all the
fullness of God. Now to Him who is able to do all things more abundantly than
we desire or understand, according to the power that worketh in us: to Him be
glory in the Church, and in Christ Jesus, unto all generations, world without
end. Amen.
GRADUAL:
Psalm 101: 16, 17
The gentiles
shall fear Thy name, O Lord, and all the kings of the earth Thy glory.
For the Lord hath
built up Sion, and He shall be seen in His majesty.
ALLELUIA: Psalm 97: 1
Alleluia,
alleluia. Sing ye to the Lord a new canticle, because the Lord hath done
wonderful things. Alleluia.
GOSPEL: Luke 14: 1-11
At that time,
when Jesus went into the house of one of the chiefs of the Pharisees on the
Sabbath day to eat bread, they watched Him. And behold, there was a certain man
before Him who had the dropsy: and Jesus answering, spoke to the lawyers and
the Pharisees, saying: “Is it lawful to heal on the sabbath day?” But
they held their peace: but He taking him, healed him, and sent him away. And
answering them, He said: “Which of you shall have an ass or an ox fall into a
pit, and will not immediately draw him out on the sabbath day?” And they could
not answer Him these things. And He spoke a parable also to them that were
invited, marking how they chose the first seats at the table, saying to them:
“When thou art invited to a wedding, sit not down in the first place, lest
perhaps one more honorable than thou be invited by him and he that invited thee
and him, come and say to thee: Give this man place: and then thou begin with
shame to take the lowest place. But when thou art invited, go, sit down in the
lowest place: that when he who invited thee cometh, he may say to thee: Friend,
go up higher. Then shalt thou have glory before them that sit at table with
thee: because everyone that exalteth himself shall be humbled and he that
humbled himself shall be exalted.”
OFFERTORY: Psalm 39. 14,15
Look down, O
Lord, to help me; let them be confounded and ashamed that seek after my soul to
take it away; look down, O Lord, to help me.
SECRET
Cleanse us, we
beseech Thee, O Lord, by the virtue of the present Sacrifice, and, in Thy
mercy, provide that we may be worthy to be partakers therein. Through our Lord
Jesus Christ, Thy Son, Who liveth and reigneth with Thee in the unity of the
Holy Ghost, one God…
Commemoration of the Blessed Virgin Mary
May the humanity
of Your only-begotten Son help us, O Lord, as He, Who, born of a virgin did not
lessen but consecrated the purity of His mother, so, on the festival of her
Nativity may Jesus Christ, our Lord, free us from our sins and render our
sacrifice acceptable to You.
Third Secret for the Intercession of the
Saints
Hear us, O God,
our salvation that through the power of this Sacrament thou mayest defend us
from all enemies of soul and body and bestow upon us grace here and glory hereafter.
PREFACE of the Most Holy Trinity
It is truly meet
and just, right and for our salvation, that we should at all times and in all
places, give thanks unto Thee, O holy Lord, Father almighty, ever-lasting God:
Who, together with Thine only-begotten Son, and the Holy Ghost, are one God,
one Lord: not in the oneness of a single Person, but in the Trinity of one
substance. For what we believe by Thy revelation of Thy glory, the same do we
believe of Thy Son, the same of the Holy Ghost, without difference or
separation. So that in confessing the true and everlasting Godhead, distinction
in persons, unity in essence, and equality in majesty may be adored. Which the
Angels and Archangels, the Cherubim also and Seraphim do praise: who cease not
daily to cry out with one voice saying:
COMMUNION: Psalm 70: 16-18
O Lord, I will be
mindful of Thy justice alone: Thou hast taught me, O God, from my youth, and
unto old age and gray hairs. O God, forsake me not.
POSTCOMMUNION
In Thy goodness,
we beseech Thee, O Lord, purify and renew our minds by these heavenly
Sacraments: that by means of them, we may also receive help for our bodies,
both now and in time to come. Through the same Lord Jesus Christ, Thy Son, Who
liveth and reigneth with Thee in the unity of the Holy Ghost, one God.
Commemoration of the Blessed Virgin Mary
We have partaken
of the solemn sacrament on this annual feast: grant we beseech You, that it may
bring us assistance both for the present and for life everlasting.
Postcommunion for the Intercession of the Saints
May the gift of
this Divine Sacrament which we have offered, cleanse us and defend us, we
beseech Thee, O Lord; and through the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary,
mother of God, of St. Joseph, of Thy holy apostles Peter and Paul, and of all
the saints, free us from all iniquity and deliver us from all adversity.
Through the Lord Jesus Christ, Thy Son, Who liveth and reigneth with Thee in
the unity of the Holy Ghost, one God.
