OUR LADY OF LA SALETTE NOVENA - SIXTH DAY

“Melanie, what I am about to tell you now will not always be a secret. You may make it public in 1858.
“The priests, ministers of my Son, the priests, by their wicked lives, by their irreverence and their impiety in the celebration of the holy mysteries, by their love of money, their love of honors and pleasures, and the priests have become cesspools of impurity.

Yes, the priests are asking vengeance, and vengeance is hanging over their heads. Woe to the priests and to those dedicated to God who by their unfaithfulness and their wicked lives are crucifying my Son again!

The sins of those dedicated to God cry out towards Heaven and call for vengeance, and now vengeance is at their door, for there is no one left to beg mercy and forgiveness for the people. There are no more generous souls; there is no one left worthy of offering a stainless sacrifice to the Eternal for the sake of the world.
“God will strike in an unprecedented way.

“Woe to the inhabitants of the earth! God will exhaust His wrath upon them and no one will be able to escape so many afflictions together.

“The chiefs, the leaders of the people of God have neglected prayer and penance, and the devil has bedimmed their intelligence.  They have become wandering stars which the old devil will drag along with his tail to make them perish. God will allow the old serpent to cause divisions among those who reign in every society and in every family. Physical and moral agonies will be suffered. God will abandon mankind to itself and will send punishments which will follow one after the other for more than thirty-five years.

“The Society of men is on the eve of the most terrible scourges and of gravest events. Mankind must expect to be ruled with an iron rod and to drink from the chalice of the wrath of God.

NOVENA TO OUR LADY OF LA SALETTE

SIXTH DAY
Do you pray well, my child? You should pray morning and evening. You know what my Son says about prayer in His Gospel : "We ought always to pray, and not to faint," i. e., not to be faint-hearted
in prayer. "For without me," that is, without my grace, "you can do nothing" meritorious for heaven. Remember that grace is granted only through prayer. "But," says my Son, "if you ask the Father anything in My name, He will give it to you." Ask, therefore, with a pure and righteous heart, confidently, submissively, perseveringly, "and you shall receive". Prayer is the key of the heavenly treasures. The cry of your misery goest up to God, and mercy descends forthwith. If, then,
you wish to be a saint, be a lover of prayer. I myself pray incessantly for you in heaven. —O sweet Mother, help me to understand the deep meaning of these few words! I will never forget that prayer is a necessity for the human heart, and the happiness of life.

Practice
Examine yourself to see how you say your daily prayers.

Prayer is a Means Necessary to Salvation by St. Alphonsus Liguori

One of the errors of Pelagianism was the assertion that prayer is not necessary for salvation. Pelagius, the impious author of that heresy, said that man will only be damned for neglecting to know the truths necessary to be learned. How astonishing! St. Augustine said: "Pelagius discussed everything except how to pray," [De Nat. et Grat. c. 17] though, as the Saint held and taught, prayer is the only means of acquiring the science of the Saints; according to the text of St. James: "If any man wants wisdom, let him ask of God, Who giveth to all abundantly, and upbraideth not." [James 1: 5]

The Scriptures are clear enough in pointing out how necessary it is to pray, if we would be saved. "We ought always to pray, and not to faint." [Luke 18: 1] "Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation." [Matt. 26: 41] "Ask, and it shall be given you." [Matt. 7: 7] The words "we ought," pray," "ask," according to the general consent of theologians, impose the precept, and denote the necessity of prayer.
